Discharge printing is a style of printing where the ink applied for the printing removes the original background color of the T-shirt. The method is more like controlled bleaching. Fabric and background color matters

Cotton is best
While we are discussing the most suitable fabric for the process, it must be mentioned that 100% cotton is considered to be ideal for discharge printing. Polyester fabric does not go all that well with the printing method. Pure polyester or cotton-polyester mixed fabrics are not best suited for discharge printing. Polyester consists of plastic elements, where removing the base ink is difficult. But that does not mean the printing process is not applicable on polyester or mixed cotton fabrics.
